This makes me wish I could be fucked nuking the main OS on my box.  Oh well when the cash comes for the C2D upgrade...  AFTER refinancing the house.

You guys need to buy Blu-Ray drives so I can get a raise!!!

actually, you are both wrong... we should ALL get raises and Pioneer should give us all a free blu-ray drive for "Promotional Purposes"

Hey man, I'd never have even touched one if it were not for Sony. I hope there is some sanity in pricing in sight. I'd lay down $400 for one, no problems. $1000? Nah - even for the enterprise, not sure I could justify it *yet*.

i just completed an install on a p4 2.4ghz machine... granted its just running all the packaged drivers, but everything *seems* to be working quite happily literally out of the box.

video is defaulting to 800 x 600 with an gf4 mx 400, but i'm sure a graphics driver update will fix that.

can post more when i get home from work.

Good to hear you've had some success.  I very much doubt the gf4 mx will support Quartz Extreme.  So you will have fairly bad video playback and such.  When i tried a hackintosh with a gf4mx back in 10.4.6 the best i could get was modding then installing the macnvidia kexts - that allowed me to change resolution.

gf4is CI/QE unsupported on a native mac (G4 powermac)so it will not  work on hackintosh. FX5200+ are CI/QE supported in NVidia models. Radeon 9550+ are CI/QE supported for ATI models

when you say will not work, do you mean will not work for all upper values of awesomness (that can be obtained by such a card anyway) or do you mean work at all?

cause as i said, mine is quite happy running at 800 x 600 and i'm just grabbing some codecs to test my downloads.

i've also got a 9200 spare, and a 9700 pro spare, so it can always be upgraded if need be.

CoreImage/QuartzExpress is what won't work.

ie, card is just a dumbarse framebuffer.
